The preparation methods of cuprous oxide

Cuprous oxide is an oxide of monovalent copper. It is a bright red powder solid, almost insoluble in water. It is disproportionated into monovalent copper and copper in acidic solution, and gradually oxidized into black copper oxide in wet air. Cuprous oxide is mainly used in the manufacture of anti-fouling paint (used to kill low-grade marine animals), pesticides, as well as various copper salts, analytical reagents, red glass. It is also used in the preparation of copper plating and copper alloy plating solutions.The preparation methods of cuprous oxide are as follows:Cuprous oxide is an oxide of monovalent copper.

1. Dry process: Copper powder is mixed with copper oxide after removing impurities, and then heated in calciner to 800-900℃ to calcine into cuprous oxide. After removal, mechanical impurities were removed by magnet and then crushed to 325 meshes to produce cuprous oxide. If copper sulfate is used as raw material, the copper in copper sulfate is reduced by iron first, and the reaction steps are the same as that of copper powder.

2. Electrolysis is is carried out in an electrolytic cell lined with polyvinyl chloride (PVC) in iron: shell, using cast copper plate as anode, copper plate as cathode, potassium chromate as additive, salt solution as electrolyte, in which sodium chloride is 290-310g/L, potassium chromate is 0.3-0.5g/L, temperature is 70-90℃, pH is 8-12, current density is 1500 A/m 2, to produce cuprous oxide, which is separated by precipitation and separated. Cuprous oxide was prepared by rinsing, filtering and drying.

3. Direct oxidation of copper: Copper oxide is obtained by hanging copper in a vertical tubular furnace with platinum wire in a nitrogen atmosphere containing 1% (volume fraction) oxygen and heating at 1000℃ for 24 hours. Or the chemical calculation mixture of copper and cupric oxide is sealed in a vacuum tube and heated at 1000 ℃ for 5 hours to react to produce cuprous oxide.

4. Glucose reduction method: Copper sulfate solution is mixed with glucose and then added into sodium hydroxide solution to react to produce cuprous oxide, which is filtered, rinsed, dried and crushed to produce cuprous oxide produc.
